Costumes
It is time again. Time for everyone try one their costume or decide if their Sundancer will be ordering her very first one! Here is some information we hope will help you.
Unlike a dance recital costume, the Sundancer uniform is made from a sturdy "majorette fabric" that is made to last for many performances. We will wear this costume for many performances throughout the year. In addition, we will keep this style costume for the next few years. This means you can wear the costume for as long as it fits you then pass it to a younger sibling or trade it for one that fits. We have done this for many years and it seems to work to help keep costs down for everyone. If you have a costume that is too small, please attach a paper with your name on it and bring it to class. We will get you a costume that fits. Some girls will be moving to a different style. We will trade costumes when necessary.
While we encourage everyone to perform with the group, we do understand that performing is not for everyone. Therefore we make purchasing the team costume an option. Please pick the option that suits the needs of your family and listen in class for ordering details.
Option 1- If you are not interested in doing any performances with the group, you do not need to purchase anything other than a baton. If your daughter changes her mind later in the year, uniforms and T shirts can be ordered but will take time to be made.
Option 2- If your daughter is interested in doing only the local parades ( the Universal and Citrus Bowl Parades require uniforms)and school carnivals, then you will only need to purchase the team T-shirt. When doing these performance, girls in T-shirts will perform together with those in costumes. If she changes her mind later in the year, costumes may be ordered but will take time to be made. Many first year students choose this option.
Option 3-If your daughter is planning on performing in all of the shows and parades or is planning on doing competitions, she will need to purchase the costume package. This includes the Sundancer costume, tights and competition shoes. If your daughter already has items from the package, you can buy those that you need individually. T- shirts are purchased separately. The prices for the items will vary as we try to keep the cost as low as possible.

Supplies
The only twirling supply that is necessary to participate in class is a professionally balanced baton. These can be purchased during class for $20. If you would like to purchase other supplies, such as extra shoes, tights, a baton case or other novelties. Please see Beverly during class or email a request to beverly@sdtwirlers.com.
